Doctorate

At the Technische Universität Berlin the doctorate is regulated in all faculties by the joint doctoral regulations. The faculty Mechanical Engineering and Transport Systems allocates the „Doctor of Engineering Sciences“ (Dr.-Ing.), the „Doctor of Natural Sciences“ (Dr. rer. nat.), and the „Doctor of Philosophy“ (Dr. phil.). An overview on the disputation dates is available under the link on the right hand. You are sincerely welcome to attend the disputations

It is recommended to announce formally the proposed doctoral thesis at the faculty by applying as a doctoral candidate. After completion of the doctoral studies and the dissertation the candidate must apply for the admission to commence the doctoral procedure.

On 5th February 2014 the Doctoral Regulations (PDF, 196,6 KB) of the TU Berlin has been modified. According to the new Doctoral Regulations doctoral candidates have the opportunity to submit a cumulative respectively publication-based dissertation. For this, execution regulations (PDF, 156,5 KB) of the faculty have to be attended in accordance with the respective sections of the new Doctoral Regulations.

In case the doctoral candidate hold an international degree (not from a German university) Bachelor, Master respectively Diploma certificates and testimonials are needed (certified copies or photocopies and personal submission of the originals in the office), and a list of the subjects and grades.

Please note: As of now we kindly ask you to also submit the completed and signed ‘additional data sheet’ when handing in the ‘application as doctoral candidate’ and the ‘application to commerce the doctoral procedure’. Please note, that we need this document as original with a handwritten signature and in a digital way.
