Bachelor Programmes

Engineering Science (Bachelor)

Physical engineering science combines the fundamental study of mathematical and physical methods with engineering applications. Through the strong emphasis on basic physical principles, students are not limited to one particular occupational field or application of their skills, and for this reason they obtain a particularly future-proof qualification, also in times of job market crises. During the bachelor studies, the students can decide on one of six majors, which they can then focus on and take to new levels in their master studies.

Informatics in Engineering (Bachelor)

Informatics in engineering as a bachelor course focuses on the interaction between mechanical engineering, process engineering, and informatics, and is therefore taught jointly with School III (Process Sciences) of the TU Berlin.

Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor)

Mechanical engineering encompasses a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from the formation of the smallest machines – such as micro-technical motors and gear mechanisms for making mobile telephones or for minimally invasive surgery in medical technology - to the development and construction of innovative products and processes, for instance in the field of automotive engineering, including the planning of whole factories. A sound methodical background is important in mechanical engineering, as is the application of engineering methods to concrete products (e.g. machine tools or vehicles).

Transport Systems (Bachelor)

With well over 2,000 students, Transport Systems is the largest programme of School V. The aim of this programme is to combine the technical aspects of transport and vehicles with the planning, social, economic and ecological aspects of mobility in society. In this programme, aero- and astronautics, automotive and railway engineering, naval and ocean engineering, and the planning and operation of transport systems are examined together, as well as their interconnectedness. Specializing in one of the four majors will prepare students for a corresponding master course.
