With more than 5,000 students,
Faculty V is the largest engineering science school at the TU Berlin.
At present, Faculty V has about of 60 professorial
positions, 350 academic staff members, and an annual budget from
third-party funding of circa € 30 million for research
activities. A large proportion of this funding comes from industry,
with which our Faculty has for a long time been closely associated
through cooperative contracts. At present, we are conducting around
450 research projects. In addition, between approximate 80 doctorates
are successfully completed each year. With these research
achievements, our school is undeniably at the forefront of engineering
science Faculty nationwide.
Faculty V is currently involved in one complex research project, which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the leading organisation for research funding in Germany. The SFB 1029 "Substantial efficiency increase in gas turbines through direct use of coupled unsteady combustion and flow Dynamics" is managed by Faculty III, the two deputies are from Faculty V, as well as the majority of the projects.
